February 2021 Wallpaper and Playlist

Welcome to February friends! Our families’ theme for this month is “Poetry”. We are looking at all the ways the rhythms of our days are filled with the poetic stuff of life. Sometimes we overlook the beauty in the simplicity. This last week my kumquat tree that Tim gave me for my birthday had its first fruit ripen. Every morning I wake up to bright orange fruit on the tree in my bedroom windows’ sunshine. Holding one of the orange fruits in my hands – it feels like magic, like poetry. My wish for you this month is that you can savor the little bright moments fully.

Also, we have introduced a new monthly rhythm! Tim is curating a playlist for you all each month. This month is called “Poetry” and is filled with rich, romantic songs that are the perfect warm and vintage feel to your February. Check it out on Spotify!

January 2021 Wallpaper AND Playlist!!

It’s a NEW YEAR my friends – a chance for fresh starts, full of hope and anticipation. So many of us have longed for this last year to be over and we can see the light on the horizon. We aren’t where we want to be yet, because the voyage is long, but we have sighted land and now must stay strong to finish the journey. Adv on friends!!

And we have expanded our offering of monthly art! For years Tim and I have made themed mixes to celebrate each season. And we want to bring you all into the fun – for this year, along with my desktop designs, we will be sharing a curated Spotify playlist to help you welcome each new month. This month’s theme is “January”. Enjoy!! And Happy New Year!!!!!!!

December 2020 Free Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

We have made it to the last month of this crazy year. I wanted to create a desktop that felt quiet…and peaceful. The snow flakes are made out of vintage fiber patterns. Making me think of that act of sitting and creating something slowly with your hands. Something to keep those you love warm when the slow starts drifting up. Love you friends. What a hard season it has been for so many. Take care of each other. Much love, Betony

November 2020 Free Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

We spent the last several days at my parents farm in Kansas. Living in the middle of the prairie, a few years ago their farm was devastated by a huge grass fire. Although everything is coming back in the way nature does, my father has spent the last three years strategically planting hundreds of oak trees. He is living out that famous adage “plant trees in whose shade you will never sit under.” November feels like that to me – a quieter, less assuming month that is about honoring and sharing traditions that will give back for generations to come.

September 2020 Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

We just got back from a family trip to visit the coastal redwoods in Northern California for the first time. The minimal color palette of the forest, the smell of the needles and the fog, the peaceful immensity of the trees, all of these things have been resting in my sub-conscience and filling up my inner wells. Hopefully this forest-inspired wallpaper can bring a little of that feeling to your spaces as well. Thank you all for your continued love and care for our family and artwork. Happy September! – Betony

August 2020 Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

August is here! We are settling into the hot end of summer, gearing back up for fall and all the new challenges that brings. I know so many of you are in places of worry and newness trying to navigate the right decisions in this time of unknowable futures. Hopefully this bright sunshine-y background can bring you a little calm and centering on things that bring light and joy.

Much love,

Betony

June 2020 Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

When we were kids, I remember going hiking in the Colorado wilderness and my dad teaching us how elevation maps worked. We would unroll the plastic coated guide throughout our adventure and watch how the landforms under our feet mirrored the fine lines on the map, leading us to new worlds.

June is a month when I want to get out and explore those landforms of the world. And maybe you are in a place where that is possible right now. And maybe you are not. But we can all still find little worlds to adventure into even if they are as small as a window box outside our door. It’s all about noticing – about how little steps can slowly climb a mountain.

April 2020 Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

We have different seasons in our lives.

Sometimes we are in chapters of new growth – sending out shoots, growing leaves, soaking up the sunshine. We build and stretch and expand.

At other times, we bear fruit. After seasons of pooling energy and summers of sunshine into our growth, we produce beautiful things. We celebrate all the hard work that came before, and send our gifts into the world.

And then of course there are the times when you need anchors. When all your resources and energy are poured into just standing strong. It’s a time when you are building on the structures that hold you up. We are navigating this harsh reality we have found ourselves in. We have shut down all the production, all the exterior, and now we just have to wait, and be, and stay strong in our roots.

Love you friends. I’m glad we are at least all in this together.

P.S. Remember last month when I said I really dread March? I hate being right sometimes…

March 2020 Desktop & iPhone Wallpaper

For the last five years (at least), something really difficult has happened to our family in March. One year it was our daughters bout with seizures, one year was the fight that almost ended our marriage, last year Tim’s dad’s cancer surgery, one year a miscarriage, etc. I know I always talk about how each season is my favorite, but after the past years, March has become the month I dread. Yesterday I was telling my husband how I have this sense of impending doom already. And I don’t want that. I don’t want to be that person. Historically March is the end of winter. It’s the month when the store rooms are bare. It’s the last leg of the hard race of winter. So it makes sense that it would be a place where pruning happens and we experience hardship. But it’s also where we get to see the hope of spring. It’s where the grays of winter start to recede and we discover crocuses under the snow. The light begins to grow stronger. And the plants know. Over the years, I realized that I usually gravitate towards themes of color, and light, and spectrum in March. We are in a place where we are longing for light. So friends, let’s head out into the sunshine and feel the air strengthening our weary bones. Happy March friends!
